Unreal Candy Coated Cupcakes

I have a serious sweet tooth.
It’s no secret.
So when these fabulous Unreal Candy packets showed up at my doorstep, I knew I had to make something fun with them that would allow me to enjoy a sweet treat here and there and not eat the whole bag in one night!
Anyone else have that problem?
So I decided to go with candy coated cupcakes, because we are about to go into the sweetest, #allthecandy week of the year, I thought – why not add extra candy on top of an already delicious cupcake creation?
How To:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Line one 12-cup standard muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. Whisk 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/3 teaspoon salt together in a medium bowl.
  3. In another medium bowl, beat 2 large eggs and 2/3 cup sugar with an electric mixer until light and foamy, about 2 minutes.
  4. While beating, gradually pour in 6 oz, unsalted, melted butter and then 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract.
  5. While mixing slowly, add half the dry ingredients. Then add all 1/2 cup Stonyfield organic yogurt and follow with the rest of the dry ingredients. Take care not to overmix the batter.
  6. Pour half the batter in the cupcake liners – add in the Unreal Candy of your choice and cover with the rest of the batter – I did a variety of the dark + milk chocolate peanut butter cups, cut in half and a sprinkling of the milk chocolate candies
  7. Bake 18 to 20 minutes. Cool the cupcakes on a rack in the tin for 10 minutes, and then remove from the tin. Cool on the rack completely. Sprinkle with additional Unreal Candy as desired + Icing with the flavor of your choice

Check out the inside of the cupcakes – more Unreal Candy!

I loved for this post that I got to partner with Unreal Candy and try out their gluten free, fair trade, non-GMO treats. So delicious and perfect for Halloween next week! I was also excited about making cupcakes with Stonyfield organic yogurt instead of milk – it was a nice way to make the cupcakes even creamier and delicious!

What’s the best cupcake creation you’ve ever seen?

Would love to hear about other tasty + sweet combinations! Please share!

Disclosure: I have an ongoing partnership with Stonyfield Organic as a member of their Clean Plate Club and received this product for review. As always, the opinions here are all my own!

Rainy Day Play

I don’t know about you, but my littles are growing up way too fast. This past year, Brooks went from a toddler to a little boy. He’s becoming more independent, he’s curious, he explores and he just LOVES to play. He’s got the most amazing imagination and I so very much enjoy watching him entertain himself.

Making a mental note to do more of that before I blink and he’s grown.

Just sit and watch him play.

It’s so wonderful to be able to be in the background and just take the time to watch your kids. See how they see the world and how they interact with others and the things around them. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

BUT aside from watching Brooks be the awesome little kid he is – it’s a rainy, dreary day in Philly today. So I thought it would be fun to share with you some ideas of how we keep busy and entertained when the weather isn’t looking so fabulous! Sometimes I also find that it is difficult to fit playtime in around all the other activities back-to-school + getting back in to the swing of a routine brings. By getting creative and establishing a routine, I’ve found that my kids are healthy and thriving all year long.

We rarely go a day without getting out of the house for some activity or adventure. I can’t sit inside all day and I know the kids enjoy playing, exploring and getting tired – you have to work for that nap break sometimes! Balanced and active play lays the foundation for a skilled, healthy, resilient, and successful society. And I can’t help but noticing that play is disappearing at home, in school, and in communities – back in the day 70% of moms played outside when they were kids, 31% of their kids play outside today – how crazy is that?!

Living in the city with two little kids is such a blessing because it’s so easy to get outside and do something fun every. single. day. Which we totally do! We are a stones throw away from so many fabulous museums, the zoo, the aquarium – all of which we hit up weekly. We totally get our memberships worth and we’ve found that these are our go-to places, especially on rainy days when the park isn’t an option!

Check out a list of our favorite Philly Memberships {with Kids}

I also think a fun rainy day activity could be something as simple as going out to lunch! I think changing the scenery and making a fun afternoon out of a lunch out together is a good rainy day recipe for anyone!

And after all that play, Brooks’ all time, favorite snack is a CLIF Kid Bar.

He goes NUTS for these things.

CLIF Kid® makes nutritious snacks from organic ingredients that are specially-crafted for kids’ developing taste buds and active lives. Whether we are on the run from preschool, or in between soccer practice, CLIF Kid Zbars are perfect for growing kids (and busy parents!) I also love that they are made with organic ingredients, are Non-GMO, have no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors (or synthetic preservatives) and are appropriate portion size for kids in flavors they love. flavors

I had so much fun partnering with CLIF Kid for this post because CLIF Kid is dedicated to reclaiming play all year long.  And they’re encouraging boys and girls everywhere to get back outside, push their boundaries and feed their adventures.

Be sure to check out the CLIF Kid Facebook page AND the CLIF Kid  video for more fun inspiration on incorporating more playtime into busy schedules .

On #Twinning the Littles – a Mitz Accessories Giveaway

I have to admit, that I love matching my boys.
It’s probably obvious, since I post pictures of them twinning all.the.time.
But I just love it so much.
They are so close in age and I think it’s so cute when they “twin” or at the very least are coordinated.
Over the past 3+ years of dressing little gentlemen, I’ve had to work a little harder to find cute boys clothes, where I see girls clothes are 75% of every kids store!  I was excited to partner with the company Mitz Accessories  which features a new gender-equal kids clothing line – thought it would be fun to change up Brooks + Graham’s look and have a little fun with their clothes.
While twinning, of course.
Purple isn’t something we have much of in their wardrobe, not that I have anything against it – I just always reach for the blues, greens + grey {my favorite} and it makes matching easier since I usually have them in those colors. Ha! Those are also the colors I usually wear too, which says a lot about how I shop for everyone!

But purple construction vehicle leggings?

We definitely don’t have anything like that in our closet. They boys, especially Brooks, immediately loved them and I was pretty excited to add another color and have a little fun with these new pants too!

I sort of wish they had these in my size! Then we could triplet? Is that a thing?!

Mitz Accessories is a modern company dedicated to finding practical solutions to everyday problems. With a commitment to fashion, they strive to bring market trends to the forefront in a way that’s fitting for both adults and children. Created in NYC, our designs reflect an urban landscape and the needs of a busy lifestyle.

October Stitch Fix Reveal

Hello, Hello!

Another week and this time, I’m excited to share with you my latest Stitch Fix! It’s been a while since I had one but I requested one for our upcoming trip to San Francisco {thanks so much again for all your recommendations – keep them coming if you have any!} and this was an especially fun Fix to request because…..

// booties

Yes, after YEARS of working with Stitch Fix and blogging about them, when I knew we were going to San Fran {which is where they are located} I let some of my contacts know and they invited me to stop by! I’M SO EXCITED!

So this Fix I requested items to wear on our trip and possibly when I come to visit Stitch Fix Headquarters! Woo!

I was so excited when I opened this box because I could immediately tell if was going to be a good one. Plaid, blues, greens, grey, denim, FUR, leather….pretty much all of my favorite things wrapped in a pretty Fix.

And don’t forget -> If you want to try Stitch Fix out for yourself, please use my referral link to sign up AND check out my Stitch Fix page {I need to update this, but you can always use the Search Button on the right side of the page to see newer ones!} to get caught up on all my previous Fixes!

Skies are Blue Emira Faux Fur Collar Knit Vest {$68}

This Vest.

Every time I look at it, I change my mind if I love it or not. The grey sweater part of it is really cool. And I think the faux fur makes it really different – I’m just not sure how much I will really wear it!

See, this picture makes me sort of love it.

Not really sure about it with the blue plaid, but I wanted to try it out for fun.

Ah! I go back and forth because I do think it’s cute! What do you think? Love or Hate?

Market & Spruce Catareena Mixed Material Zipper Detail Pullover {$68}market-and-spruce-catareena
This top I am going back and forth on as well. I LOVE the green color – and the zipper detail is pretty cool. Just not sure how flattering it really is {I chose more flattering photos – FYI} but I feel like it might highlight my “mama belly” more than I would like – I’m a little more into looser fit in that area at the moment. Dress for the body you have, am i right?

Edyson Maisha Ponte and Faux Leather Jacket {$88}edyson-maisha-jacket

This jacket would be better for me in a brown or grey. I have a similar leather jacket so I really don’t need something like this, BUT I do have to say that the front drape on this was sort of lovely.

It’s a cute jacket for sure.

Paired with plaid, because – why not?

Kut from the Kloth Boyle Two Pocket Top {$68}

This is pretty much my style. So much so that I “might” have something similar in my closet and I’m contemplating keeping it anyways. Ha. But I do need to check my closet about this one – I am finding I have a lot of plaid in there, but many of them are fleece and so much warmer than I have been needing this mild fall so far. This is really thin and light, not to mention I love the gorgeous blues. Possible keeper I think!

Totally would love to pair my green vest with this bad boy! Also – check out the blue plaid I’m wearing in my green vest post – too similar? Maybe? Possibly? Ah! Decisions!

Pistola Tory Distressed Ankle Zip Skinny Jean {$88}distressed-jeans

Like everything else in this fix, I am going back and forth. I sort of love the fit, am obsessed with distressed and really don’t have any denim this color. BUT I don’t reallllllly need another pair of jeans – I have so many I need to wear! BUT when you find a pair you like {for under $100}, it makes sense to keep them, right? Right?

This fix was a hard one for me – I really liked everything, my stylist Bianca totally got my vibe. I am just trying to be practical and narrow down what I really need and what I really will wear. When I first opened the box I thought I would keep it all! Now, looking through all the pictures of me actually wearing the pieces, I’m being a little more picky – which is good!

Now it’s the hard part!

I need your opinions to help me decide {if anything!} -> What to Keep! I’m on the fece about pretty much everything and would love to know your thoughts. What are YOUR favorite pieces from what I received in this Fix?! Please tell me what you think!

What Should I Keep from This Fix?
