Duster Cardigan Favorites

Alila  Lace Necklace {on sale} / booties {similar}

This weather has been a little crazy lately. It’s been unseasonably warm {now for December! When did that happen?!} and then downright cold, windy, rainy – I feel like we’ve almost had 4 seasons the past month!

But it’s been a nice excuse to do one of my favorite things – LAYER!

I love to layer and combine a few different beautiful pieces together in a fun new way. Layering can really change up your look and can easily take a plain top or a dress and make it special.

Layering with jewelry is obviously a personal favorite of mine.

But my new obsession is layering with a long, light duster cardigan to change up a look.

It’s nice to have an extra layer during this season because the cold can come and go, but a nice little light addition to your look can really make an outfit pop, especially if you do it with a fun colored duster cardigan.

Like this gorgeous blue.

I also enjoy the chunky sweater dusters for a more relaxed look because sometimes its nice to just cozy up and wrap yourself in a bit of a hug.

Also, duster cardigans pair nicely with pretty much everything you already own – skirts, dresses, skinny jeans and fun booties!

I did a little research and pulled together a few of my favorite duster cardigans at the moment.

Check them out and let me know what you think!

Our First LEGO® DUPLO® + a Giveaway

Boys love to build.

I’ve learned that early on.

I’ve also found that Brooks is at a age where he really loves to PLAY and he can do so much with his toys. He has a great imagination and he loves to make things come alive- it’s so fun to see him at work! This winter, while going through our toys and taking ‘inventory’ I’ve also come to realize that we have so many baby toys in the house and not too many little boy things that Brooks would really enjoy and grow with!

Luckily, Christmas and Brooks’ Birthday is right around the corner, so I’m sure that’s about to change.

But until Santa makes his way to Philadelphia in a few weeks, our friends at LEGO®  DUPLO® sent a little package for Brooks and Graham to enjoy!

How nice is that?!

Being a boy mom to two littles under 3, this was my first time experiencing the DUPLO experience – I had heard people talking about it and their kids loving them, but until your little is old enough to play with something, it’s easy for it not to be on your radar.

I’ve recently found that both boys are at the PERFECT age for DUPLO bricks right now.

If you aren’t familiar or your little isn’t old enough yet -> LEGO®  DUPLO® preschool building toys are specially designed for the small hands and big imaginations of children aged 1½ – 5 years – I love that this is a toy that BOTH my boys can play with together, for years to come! It’s so amazing to see them both playing with something that is challenging them both for different reasons. And as a added bonus, DUPLO bricks are twice the size of standard LEGO bricks, making them a safe way to kick off a child’s building career.

Graham loves learning to stack the blocks {and then knock them down} and Brooks enjoys building small structures – he’s even started role playing with mini figures a bit! LEGO® DUPLO® is a great toy for open-ended play at every stage of your young one’s development.

The DUPLO® blocks are large enough in size for the little hands to handle but also small enough to be challenging. I love how the shapes have changed a bit since I played with them as a kid, and there are tons of new accessories and additional figures to add to the fun.

Inside our kit was the Horse Trailer LEGO® DUPLO® which came with 2 figures: a mom and child, plus a horse. It also features a buildable car and horse trailer with opening top as well as a practice jump with a bar that can be knocked off. Brooks LOVES the car and the trailer!build

We also received  a sturdy, iconic LEGO® brick-shaped storage box and inside was the All In One gift set – which you can build a tree, house and even a small shelter for the cat and dog to play in. This included a cat, dog, window element and selection of other LEGO® DUPLO® bricks.

We will definitely be adding to our LEGO® DUPLO® collection over this holiday season and beyond I’m sure!

We’ve had so much fun with our LEGO® DUPLO® and in the spirit of Christmas, I want to give away a LEGO® DUPLO® kit to one of my fantastic readers! You guys are so awesome!

All you have to do to enter to win is to leave a comment letting me know your favorite way to play with your littles!

Giveaway ends Sunday, December 4th / Winner will be notified via email

Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies

I’ve been on the hunt for more activities to do with Brooks. He’s at such a great age and loves to do new things – we’ve cooked together before and he’s had a great time getting messy in the kitchen with me, so I thought it would be fun to make some holiday cookies together – he was immediately onboard because

1) toddler and 2) cookies.

Plus he got to wear his adorable chef hat and his apron I made for him {and all his friends} for his second birthday party!

I remember my mom would always make these peanut butter blossom cookies when I was a kid – and she still does! But I thought it would be fun to make them with Brooks to get our holidays off on the right start – with cookies, obviously!

Plus everyone needs a little extra cookie love during the holiday season, am I right? And we made these with some King Arthur Flour and a little Stonyfield yogurt for a added twist!

How To:

  • Heat oven to 375*
  • Beat 1/2 cup shortening and 3/4 cup peanut butter in a large bowl until blended – set aside
  • In another bowl, add 1/3 cup granulated sugar and 1/ cup light brown sugar – beat until fluffy
  • Add in 1 egg, 2 tbsp. Stonyfield yogurt and 1 tsp. vanilla extract – beat well
  • Stir in 1 1/2 cup of King Arthur Flour, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Gradually beat this into the peanut butter mixture
  • Shape dough into 1 inch balls + placed on ungreased cookie sheet – bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned
  • While the cookies are in the oven, remove wrappers from chocolates
  • Once baked, immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie
  • Remove from cookie sheet to cool completely + enjoy!

makes about 4 dozen cookies

Cookie baking during the holidays is one of my favorite things to do to start the season off on the right foot. So excited to be able to make them with and for my littles.

Do you have a favorite holiday recipe you make every year to get into the spirit? Would love to hear about it!

My November Stitch Fix

I love when a little surprise of new clothes shows up on my doorstep after I spent the weekend eating all.the.food.

At least it was a beautiful box of new clothes from Stitch Fix! After my recent visit to Stitch Fix headquarters, I was really excited for my latest Holiday Fix to arrive!

I was excited to see some beautiful Fall/Winter colors in this box. This Fix was all about adding some cozy fall to my closet.

And don’t forget -> If you want to try Stitch Fix out for yourself, please use my referral link to sign up AND check out my Stitch Fix page {I need to update this, but you can always use the Search Button on the right side of the page to see newer ones!} to get caught up on all my previous Fixes!

Paper moon Samsy Strappy Detail Knit Top in Burnt Orange $44

I’ve been looking at these fun strappy detail tops for a while now so I was excited to be able to try one on myself. I love the burnt orange color, it’s more of a light orange, shade of pink – but it’s a perfect color for the Fall/Winter! I also love how loose and flowy it is – flattering and easy to tuck in if you want.

I really enjoyed this top! What do you think?

En Creme Hilli Open Draper Cardigan $58

This aztec top was a bit of a surprise in my Fix – I’ve gotten a few things in the similar shape in previous fixes – here, here and here  – and I didn’t keep any of them, so I was a little bummed to see something I haven’t liked in the past in another fix. BUT I do enjoy the aztec vibe, so at the same time I can understand why it was sent. The print and colors are really pretty and go beautifully with the previous top I was sent.

What do you think about this drape cardigan? Are you a fan?

RD Style Wilkes Colorblocked Raglan Sweater in Grey $58

Next up is this color block raglan sweater – grey and cream, I’m done.

This sweater is totally me – I love it. Easy to wear, easy to pair with some beautiful jewels and you look put together. I love the colors for early Fall, late spring and who doesn’t love a nice winter cream? I do!

Thoughts on this? Keeper? I have a million sweaters in my life, but I sort of love it.

Paper moon Beverley Lace Side Panel Knit Top In Burgundy $54

Next up is another burgundy beauty – this top is really fun – I love the stripes AND the lace panels on the side. Such a cool top, and I think it would look really cool with my favorite green vest. The only thing is the weight of the top is really light – so it’s more Fall/Spring than winter for sure – unless you layer it up.

Keep? Pass? Thoughts?

Liverpool Anita Skinny Pant in Black $78

This pant, as pictured on me in the above photos is a flattering and comfortable fit – and it gets me away from my everyday denim, which I am guilty of wearing all the time. It’s a really cute pair of pants that can be worn with flats or booties and pretty much any top – I just have a few solid black pant options in my closet at the moment, so I don’t really need these. But if you need some new black pants in your life, be sure to request these in your next Fix!

Now it’s the hard part!

I need your opinions to help me decide {if anything!} -> What to Keep! I’m on the fece about the raglan sweater and two tops and would love to know your thoughts. What are YOUR favorite pieces from what I received in this Fix?! Please tell me what you think!

What Should I Keep?
